Making financial choice during COVID-19 times: The Month of Financial Education in Italy
Text: Marta Cannistrà, Politecnico di Milano
The Italian committee of financial education started in 2018 to organize the “Month of Financial Education”, during October, realizing how citizens are interested in the proposed topics and the numerous initiatives planned by schools, banks and associations.
2020 has been (and is) a particular year, the pandemic interested the entire world, impacting not only on our well being, but also on our finances. In fact, many people lost their jobs or they were completely changed, pushing (almost) everyone to reckon with the importance of saving behaviours and future planning. For these reasons, the Italian financial education committee decided to dedicate the third edition of the Month to the financial choice in crisistimes. In particular, trying to investigate how money decisions evolve during coronavirus emergency, or investigating the alternatives and the opportunities connected to the digital transformation of financial and bank systems. These and many other topics and issues will be discussed involving experts and citizens through a rich calendar of online events and conferences during October 2020.
