Innovation in financial education - The FinQ Programme

The FinQ Programme as a unique innovation in the field of diagnostics, development and certification of competences aimed at improvement of financial education and development of competences in the field of financial culture.
Slovenska Sporitelna Foundation with close cooperation with pedagogical experts from EDUAWEN EUROPE presents the FinQ Programme as an example of good practice in Slovakia. We present concrete solutions in the process of financial culture development and lifelong learning in the era of digital transformation.
Our approach is based on scientific research and analysis of the financial education in Slovakia, based on OECD standards, national documents, standards, their implementation on national, school, group, individual level. We defined basic competences for pupils with the focus on critical thinking.
The FinQ Programme summary and key outcomes:
- Framework of Reference for the Development of Financial Culture for the purposes of critical thinking and higher cognitive processes corresponding with the needs of employers and the needs of population facing digital transformation
- Levels of development of competences; we have used the existing scale A1 - C2 of the Common European Reference Framework for Languages and created original methodology DaCoSiDe – database of descriptors of cognition and social interaction
- Educational models for the school headmasters and for teachers online
- The professional standards for teachers in competences development in financial culture context
- 250 methodological sheets for teachers (level A1 up to B2) online
- 250 learning exercises for pupils
- Diagnostics and certification tools for evaluation of the development of pupils competences levels.
We ensured accessibility of qualitatively new didactical tools online and free of charge. We have created FinQ Quality Label for schools-ambassadors of financial culture development. We closely cooperate with schools, teachers´ associations, institutions of public and state administration, NGOs towards development of competences in the context of lifelong learning. FinQ Programme methodology was acknowledged and certified by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic as an innovative education.
