On February 4, 2021, The Business Academy in  Žilina, in cooperation with the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized  a webinar "Didactical Materials for Financial Literacy Education".

The webinar aimed to inform about new financial literacy education methods, present good examples from practice, and discuss possible problems and issues.

 The  content of the webinar:

  • introduction to the EUFin project
  • presentation of the project website www.eufin.org
  • display of created didactical  materials – especially Slovak ones: family budget, opening a bank account,  historical development of money and security features of money
  • discussion on experimental  verification of a didactical material Escape room

In addition to the teachers of secondary vocational schools who participated in the Escape room's experimental verification, the webinar was attended by representatives of public institutions dealing with the financial literacy education in Slovakia.

The participants discussed the importance of financial literacy, the integration of financial education into all subjects, and the irreplaceable role of the family in such education. Attention was also paid to the need to share proven didactical materials and dissemination.

Presented didactical materials were positively assessed by the participants who asked for the consent to be available to the general public on these institutions' websites – which is also the goal of the project. 😊

„As a teacher,  I will say that there is never enough didactic materials, because in the  current state of textbooks, teachers are literally dependent on  "making" their own materials. The materials that will be created on  the basis of  such cooperation are an excellent tool for every teacher," said Ján Leľak, a teacher from the Hotel Academy Žilina. "Especially the  form of didactic play is interesting for students and if it is well  processed, it can "draw"  them into the story. So I  personally welcome any didactic material and with my "creations"  I am happy to share them and also accept constructive criticism,“  Leľak added.
