10th edition of Dutch Money Week opened by Queen Máxima

Her Majesty Queen Máxima opened the tenth edition of the Dutch Money Week on Monday March 22nd in The Hague. This year's theme was "Learning how to handle your money is golden". Minister Hoekstra of Finance and Minister Slob of Primary and Secondary Education and Media were also present at the opening: live from the Money Week Studio in The Hague.
For the first time in the history of the Dutch Money Week all activities were online, due to the current situation and measures regarding COVID-19. From a full-blown Studio the Dutch Money Week provided 34 different programs via a continuous livestream during the week.
Some highligts
From Monday to Friday there were daily news broadcasts for children in ‘The Moneyweek News’. On Thursday there was a press conference with the Minister of Finance for Primary education. Dutch Youtube Star Dylan Haegens was also there to answer questions about money from children in the Netherlands.
For secondary school there was a series of 13 short lessons from various organisations about financial skills. Teachers could use those lessons as a try-out for the full programs.
Also there where various talkshows for youngsters and their teachers. For example about money mules or “what to do when you turn 18?”

Guest lectures
Traditionally, employees of banks, insurance companies and municipalities will provide a total of 5.000+ guest lectures and workshops at schools about being smart with your money. Because of COVID-19 these guest lectures also switched to online teaching.

The 10th edition of the Dutch Money Week different than usual in every way. Nevertheless, the lock down resulted in an innovative and inspiring program, completely online. This has enabled us to reach many students, teachers and professionals. All content and all broadcasts are still available to watch at www.weekvanhetgeld.nl/studio.
